Step-by-Step GST Registration Process
Step 1: Visit the GST Portal
Go to gst.gov.in and click on "Services" → "Registration" → "New Registration".
Step 2: Fill Part A of the Application
Enter your PAN, email address, and mobile number. You will receive OTPs on both for verification. Upon successful verification, you will receive a Temporary Reference Number (TRN).
Step 3: Complete Part B Using TRN
Log in using the TRN and fill in the complete application form GST REG-01. This includes:
- Business details – legal name, trade name, constitution of business
- Promoter/partner details with photographs and identity proof
- Authorized signatory information
- Principal place of business with address proof
- Additional places of business (if any)
- Goods and services details with HSN/SAC codes
- Bank account details
Step 4: Upload Required Documents
Upload all documents in the prescribed format. Ensure files are within the size limits specified on the portal.
Step 5: Verification and Submission
Verify the application using Aadhaar OTP, Digital Signature Certificate (DSC), or Electronic Verification Code (EVC). Submit the application.
Step 6: Application Processing
The GST officer reviews your application. If everything is in order, your GSTIN (15-digit GST Identification Number) is issued. If there are discrepancies, a notice in GST REG-03 is issued within 7 working days.
