Step-by-Step GST Registration Process

Step 1: Visit the GST Portal

Go to gst.gov.in and click on "Services" → "Registration" → "New Registration".

Step 2: Fill Part A of the Application

Enter your PAN, email address, and mobile number. You will receive OTPs on both for verification. Upon successful verification, you will receive a Temporary Reference Number (TRN).

Step 3: Complete Part B Using TRN

Log in using the TRN and fill in the complete application form GST REG-01. This includes:

  1. Business details – legal name, trade name, constitution of business
  2. Promoter/partner details with photographs and identity proof
  3. Authorized signatory information
  4. Principal place of business with address proof
  5. Additional places of business (if any)
  6. Goods and services details with HSN/SAC codes
  7. Bank account details

Step 4: Upload Required Documents

Upload all documents in the prescribed format. Ensure files are within the size limits specified on the portal.

Step 5: Verification and Submission

Verify the application using Aadhaar OTP, Digital Signature Certificate (DSC), or Electronic Verification Code (EVC). Submit the application.

Step 6: Application Processing

The GST officer reviews your application. If everything is in order, your GSTIN (15-digit GST Identification Number) is issued. If there are discrepancies, a notice in GST REG-03 is issued within 7 working days.

  • With Aadhaar verification: Approval in 3 working days
  • Without Aadhaar verification: Up to 21 working days (physical verification may be required)
