MSME Registration: Benefits, Process, and Eligibility
Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) form the backbone of the Indian economy, contributing approximately 30% to GDP and 45% to exports. The government offers significant benefits to registered MSMEs through the Udyam Registration portal. If your business qualifies, registration is free, paperless, and provides access to numerous schemes and protections.
MSME Classification (Revised Criteria)
| Category | Investment in Plant & Machinery | Annual Turnover |
|---|---|---|
| Micro Enterprise | Up to ₹1 crore | Up to ₹5 crore |
| Small Enterprise | Up to ₹10 crore | Up to ₹50 crore |
| Medium Enterprise | Up to ₹50 crore | Up to ₹250 crore |
Both investment and turnover criteria must be satisfied. Investment is calculated excluding land and building. Turnover is linked to GST returns and ITR data.
